Neuropsychological Process & Outcome

A Neuropsychological Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of thinking abilities, including cognitive strengths and weaknesses, to determine the nature of any underlying cognitive problems. As a Clinical Neuropsychologist, I utilize my knowledge of brain-behavior relationships, along with neuropsychological testing, history, and behavioral observations in order to diagnose and make specific recommendations and accommodations tailored to the needs of the client.

Testing:

  • Testing is generally conducted over two to three testing sessions depending on your child/adolescent’s needs and ability.

Recommendations:

  • Learning strategies, tutoring

  • Accommodations for school and standardized tests

  • Specialist referrals including Speech and Language Therapy, Tutors, OT, PT, Pediatricians, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Allergists, and Educational Consultants

Feedback:

  • I meet with parents to go over the feedback/neuropsychological report including recommendations, accommodations, and strategies for your child/adolescent.

Consultation:

  • I am available for follow-up consultations with families in person and/or on the telephone.

  • Team meetings can be arranged with schools to discuss the results of the Neuropsychological Evaluation, strategize methods to assist the student in school, and help coordinate services for the child.

School/Classroom Observation:

  • Classroom observations can be conducted on your child/adolescent to further assess their performance in school including academic strengths and struggles.

Testifying:

  • I frequently testify on behalf of children and adolescents in order that they may receive accommodations and/or services at special education schools, examination boards, etc.
